I obtained the Vatican recordings of Alessandro Moreschi through Trunk Records recently, and thought some of you might be interested to hear what a true castrato singer sounded like. It’s quite extraordinary, and I confess I’ve never heard anything like it.
Moreschi was the only castrato known to have made recordings, and these survive from the very early 1900s. Enjoy Ave Maria from a fellow YouTuber. And do check out Moreschi’s Wiki page––very interesting stuff!
