We’re evaluating how to move forward with our group, to keep everyone interested, feeling that they’re continuing to learn and develop, and also, from a practical point of view, keeping the numbers high enough to ensure a solid financial footing, so that people don’t have to keep breaking open their piggy banks to keep us afloat.
We’ve had some input and suggestions from some of our regulars, but would love to solicit everyone’s opinion and get some good feedback so we can make this group something that works for as many of you as possible.
What do you feel about the following issues:
- Moving the venue into Lewes, so there’s less driving, more options for walking to & from? We’d need to investigate the possibilities.
- Paying in advance across the term. This would guarantee the funding and encourage regular attendance. We could maybe throw in some perk for registering across the term, like a free individual lesson.
- What we do: we’d like to define our group more effectively, so that we can publicise more efficiently and target those who would most benefit. What are the essential parts of our group that attract you most? Here are the things we would like to do– can you comment on the effectiveness and add other items to this list?
~Improve vocal strength and skill
~Build confidence in singing
~Improve musicianship and sight reading
~Prepare you for participation in choirs
~Improve your ability to sing in parts
- Marketing: we’d like to develop an attractive, engaging publicity poster to put up around town, send to local choirs. What we would like it to communicate is that a) everyone can sing better than they do, b) we can build your confidence in your singing & improve various skills, and c) we have a good ol’ time doing it. We welcome your thoughts on how to word some of this.
- Numbers: having operated with numbers ranging from 6-26 (remember that one??), we feel that the maximum number should be 20. A regular attendance of 18 would be super. What do you think?
- Anything else?
Thank you all in advance for your thoughts, ideas, energy, and general enthusiasm– you’re a great group!!
~Paul & Carol
Hi Paul&Carol,
I would LOVE it,if you could move the venue to Lewes,as I don’t drive,or have a car.
…and don’t like relying on others.I could walk,or ride my bike;which is more”green”
anyway. The other thing is;and I know this is just me;apologies for this, but could it be
on a different evening(I can hear the screams of protest)…would like to join a “choir”
…and they all seem to rehearse on Thursdays!
Definitely agree about”improving vocal strength, skill and confidence”…..but most of
us are used to singing in parts,at Larks;though probably not ALWAYS that well!!
